  2021 Substitute Service Planning

To fulfill the adjustment of Defense and Military Service policy and to respond to governance focus, from 2021, substitute services are divided into five categories – police services, fire fighting services, social services, public administration substitute services (consular, cultural, athletic substitute services and draftees who have indigenous people status), and research and development substitute services. Draftees are responsible for such duties as social security, social service, long-term care, disaster preventing and relief, and technological research and development. In addition, to provide diverse and more options for draftees, draftees born after 1994 are also qualified for applying for police services and fire fighting services from 2021. More draftees responsible for social security, disaster preventing and relief will also be sent to remote area.
